Wood Furnace Videos - How Gasification Works
The process by which Empyre outdoor wood boilers and hot water furnaces operate is referred to as wood gasification. Gasification is a highly technical process in which furnaces consume not only the solid cordwood fuel placed within them, but also the gases produced by the fire as well. This doubles the efficiency of the outdoor wood boiler and can reduce 99% of emissions.
In the gasification process, the wood gasifier produces flames which reach up to 2,000° Fahrenheit and consumes all the solid fuel placed within the furnace. While this takes place, the produced smoke and gases cycle around different chambers of the wood boiler. The extreme heat of the furnace gradually consumes the gas while the fire brick lining of the furnace's interior absorbs heat and maintains the temperature. Ultimately the exhaust is passed through the flue at temperatures as low as 350°F where it is released into the air.
These high efficiency boilers provide a wealth of benefits for their users. By using a wood gasification process, fuel and gas alike are used to power the wood-burning stove. Also, gasification causes these furnaces to be more environmentally friendly by reducing emissions, ash, and creosote buildup.
